FAQs

Who can legally fly a SunDancer?
The SunDancer is registered as Glider. To legally fly the SunDancer you would need to hold a Private Pilot-Glider rating with a Self-Launch Endorsement.  We can help you get that rating. Contact us for details.

What if I have been denied a medical?
Don’t worry if you have been denied your FAA medical or just let your last medical expire, you can still fly the SunDancer. If you have a Glider rating on your Pilot Certificate you can fly the SunDancer without restriction. The only thing you will need is a Self-launch Endorsement from me. If you lack a Glider rating it will require a little instruction and a check ride with an Examiner to get a Glider rating.

Are there any hidden costs?
No, the price includes everything as stated above. Your factory new SunDancer is ready to fly home with a current airworthiness certificate and registered to you.
What about financing or the cost of insurance?
Depending on your flight history insurance costs will most likely be in the  $1,800-$2,500  price range. After a hundred hours in the SunDancer most owners see a decrease in insurance costs. Contact us for information about financing your purchase.
Do you provide flight instruction?
Ten hours of instruction is included in the purchase price. Ten hours of dual instruction is required by all insurance companies regardless of your total flight time. More instruction can be given as required.
How may I take delivery of my SunDancer?
SunDancers are delivered to a hangar at the airport in Reedley, California, where they are assembled and tested. We complete all necessary tasks and paperwork required by the FAA for issuance of an Airworthiness Certificate for each factory new SunDancer. Ownership is then transferred to you.

You can fly out to California (SMF, and SFO are the closest major airports) and I will fly home with you. Or I can fly the SunDancer to you. With both options you cover the expenses for delivery.

What size hangar will accommodate my SunDancer?
With the wing tips removed the wing span is 41 feet. You will need a hangar 41’6” wide or wider to accommodate SunDancer.

Where is SunDancer constructed?
SunDancer is constructed in a factory in the Czech Republic. What is important is to know is that the talented folks who are building your aircraft have built 150+ SunDancers, and their workmanship is outstanding.
