Despite looking a bit cozy, the cockpit of SunDancer is roomy enough for two pilots, with nearly 100 pounds of their baggage stowed behind the seats.
Except for being weathered in for two days in Holbrook, AZ, our return trip from Lakeland, Florida was uneventful. Altogether we flew nearly 5,000 miles in 7 flying days, averaging 4 gallons of fuel per hour flight. A line of severe thunderstorms with the possibility of hail and tornadoes put an early end to Sun 'n Fun 2018. Hail and thinly skinned wings do not play well together, so we sought to shelter my SunDancer from the storm. Luckily the owner of a cavernous jet hangar allowed us to weather the storms safely inside.
